"I could hang you for treason, Ashley," Andrew spat. "I am certain that the child in her womb is mine. Shut up or I'll have you hanged in front of the church," he snapped.

"Andrew..." Amy whispered, shocked at the things he had just said.

"Would you rather listen to her accusations or not," he snapped, still angry.

"Well, she's right about me sleeping with other men... but she's wrong about this baby. Every bit of me and this baby is yours." she said softly, looking into his eyes.

"Sleeping with other men... before me," he asked, hoping that's what she meant.

She nodded. "Yes. Before you. I fell in love with you and i would never be with another man while I was with you." she said.

He kissed her forehead, squeezing her hand gently. "I love you," he whispered.

"You may leave now, Ashley," the former duke said, a new emotion in his eyes that Andrew had never seen

Ashley looked at Andrew and then at Amy and shook her head. She drew a small knife that she had up her sleeve and went straight for Amy, hoping to his her in the right spot to kill her, or at least the baby that she knew was not Andrews.

"Andrew look out," Abigail yelled. Andrew turned around and tried to keep Amy behind him. He drew his sword and aimed it at Ashley.

Amy fell from the fast movement and from her dress. Ashley was quick from training she had and moved away from the sword, landing on Amy, the knife going into her stomach. Ashley, being close to royalty and her dad being a knight, had had only a little training, but she was able to move away from sword in this instance.

"Guards," the former duke bellowed. The guards came running immediately and dragged Ashley off of Amy. "Disarm her and take her to the dungeon. Summon her father - I want a word with him," he commanded. The guards nodded and took her away. "Someone call the medic!"

Andrew knelt down next to Amy. "Amy, love, help is coming," he told her, worried for her. He had no idea what Ashley had been trained by her father, if only a little bit.

Ashley's knife had buried itself in Amy's belly. Amy laid there, her hands on her bleeding stomach. "I love you, Andrew..." she whispered.

"Lilli," he whispered, terrified that he was going to lose her.

"I love you." she whispered again, also scared that she was going to die.

"I love you, too," he whispered, holding onto her.

Amy was loosing a lot of blood and it was getting hard for her to keep her eyes open. "I'm sorry... I don't want to leave."

"Ssshh, love," he whispered, his voice breaking.

Abigail tore a strip of fabric off of her dress and pressed the makeshift bandage to her wound. "The baby won't survive this," she murmured. "If we can stop the bleeding, Amy might."

Things were getting dark for Amy but she was doing her best to hold onto Andrew. "The baby...." she mumbled, over and over.

"Ssshhh, love," Andrew tried to sooth her, stroking her hair. The medic finally came and cut the dress away from her wound, pressing cotton to it to soak up the blood. He had Andrew gently carry her to the nearest bedroom and lay her down. Andrew never left her side as the medic worked, always holding her hand, praying for her.

Amy eventually couldn't keep her eyes open and fell asleep, drifting between death and life.

The doctor finally sighed and stood. "I've done all I can do for her, Your Grace. It is up to God now," he bowed and left, and the priest entered, saying prayers over Amy. Andrew couldn't hold back the tears of worry and heartbreak as he held onto her hand, praying she'd wake up.

Three days later, Amy woke up, looking around the room. "Andrew?" she mumbled weakly.

Andrew was asleep at her bedside, his hand still holding onto hers. He hadn't moved, eaten, or drinken since she'd been laid down in the bed.

Amy looked around then under the covers, finding bandages over her stomach. Seeing them she knew her baby was dead. Silently, she started crying.

Andrew woke up to mild shaking and blinked himself awake, slowly raising his head. "Amy," he whispered, taking her into his arms and holding her close. "Does it hurt, love?"
