Andrew was grumpy for the rest of the day. At night, he snuck away to the bar. He needed answers. He needed the truth. "Amy," he whispered, desperate for her to answer and talk to him.

Amy had been feeling funny throughout the day and was talking with one of her friends. She figured out she was pregnant. She met Andrew out by the back of the pub, scared to tell him her news.

"A hooded man came into the castle today," he said, still frowning. "He said my bedmate hasn't been faithful," he looked her in the eye, wanting the truth.

She looked confused. "what?" she asked. "Does he mean me?"

"He means you," he nodded. "You are the only bedmate I have. Explain, Amy," he demanded of her.

She jumped slightly at his sharp tone. He'd never spoken to her like that. "I don't understand what he means. I've only had you. I've only been with you." she said, getting emotional.

He studied her reaction closely. He believed her, but the doubt was still there. He would find out in time, he decided. For now, he would watch her and enjoy her company. "Alright," he told her and kissed her forehead. "You looked troubled when you came to me. What is wrong?"

Tears came to her eyes and she placed her hands on her stomach. "I bare your child." she said softly.

He stared at her with a blank face. "You bare my... child," he repeated. "You are pregnant. With my child," he said, making sense of it. He gently stroked the tears away from her eyes with his thumbs. "We are to be parents," he said gently with a smile. "It is a good thing we will get married a week after the ball," he chuckled softly, kissing her forehead.

"I can't go to the ball." she said softly. "I will be showing by then, it will cause talk."

"I don't care if it causes talk," he told her gently. "Everyone gossips about everything. It will look like you've gained a little weight. That is nothing to talk about."

She nodded. "But it will only be a seven month pregnancy once we do get married." she said softly, obviously scared.

"Then they will have no right to talk," he stroked her cheek. "You will be the duchess. They won't dare talk ill about you. The duchess is the starter of all trends, normally."

She sighed, nodding. "Okay." she said softly, her hands still on her belly. "But you are the father of this child. Since I've met you there's been no one else." She said, trying to make sure he knew she wasn't cheating which could be taken the wrong way.

He kissed her softly. "I love you," he told her. "I will help you raise this - our - child," he promised.

She nodded. "I've been completly faithful." she said, now sounding like she was trying to hard to prove ti.

He shook his head. "Enough about it."

She nodded. "You're right. This is a happy moment." she smiled.

"I will send Abigail to watch over you until the ball," he told her gently. "I will not be able to see you until then."

Her smile left. "What do you mean?" She asked.

"I have meetings and have to decorate the ball room, choose where everything goes. I will be very busy. I will see you at the ball, though, love," he kissed her forehead. "Not to worry."

"But that's two weeks away..." she sighed. "I will not see you at all?"

"A fortnight will go by faster than you think, love," he kissed her softly, his hand gently touching her stomach.

Her hands moved over his and she shook her head. "I fear it will be an eternity."

"Not with Abby to keep you company, dearest," he kissed her.
