"But Jedi is a wolf..." she sighed, sitting on her new bed. "How do I know who I'm suppose to be with?"

He thought a moment and shrugged. "It's different with everyone. Some dream of their future mates, some become protective very quickly after meeting their mate. It depends on the person."

"I've never dreamed of you and I honestly don't feel protective over anyone but Jedi." she said, sighing and shaking her head.

"Though I have never dreamed of you, I do feel protective of you," he murmured. "If you are fated to be my mate, I do not yet feel possessive of you like my father does with my mother, or my uncle does with my aunt."

"Then maybe I'm just some girl that needs protecting." she mumbled.

"You are not just 'some girl," he told her. 'You are a breedmate. Practically royalty among Breed kind. Of course you will be protected."

"But I don't want to be this..." She sighed.

"And I don't want to feel like a monster every time I feed or get a whiff of blood," he said. "But that's just how it is. There's no changing what makes you."

She sighed and nodded. "I guess you're right..."

"We can take you to a darkhaven. You would be safe there. There are many women who live there who have yet to have mates. I think some of them have humans they like and might move out with them. I can take you to one of those if you like."

"I don't think I want to live with a bunch of women..." she mumbled.

"There are males living there, too," he told her. "Actually, many more than there are females. Not all breedmates are discovered before they grow old and die. But most of the Breed race act just like human men do. My family and I are warriors. Barbarians, in their eyes."

"why?" she asked. "Warriors are suppose to be honored..."

He shook his head. "In our world, they are viewed as barbarians. Most of the population is democrats. Prim and proper and all that," he frowned. "They claim they are civil and humane. They forced my father to turn Rogue. It took three months to turn him back to normal."

"Wow... Then what about the breedmates to the warriors?" she asked. "What do they think about your mother and aunt?"

"They met my mother and aunt only once, when I was there anyway. They were very surprised to find how friendly mom and Aunt Fairly were. They had imagined them being rude and uncivilized as their mates."

"But I didn't see your father as being rude." she said, completely confused.

"He was rude when we went to visit the darkhaven. Only because they were openly showing their revoltion to my parents.

"What do you mean?" she asked, getting up and starting to put her clothes in the dresser.

"My father was trying to tell them that all the rogues had been eliminated. They wouldn't listen to him, saying he was trying to lure them into a trap. My mother was nice about it, but my father was rude and cruel, tired of their prejudices."

"Looks like they were right though." she said softly, her back to him.

He frowned. "They were right? The rogues were eliminated, as far as we knew. They had recently resurfaced, not three days ago. My father would not tell such a tall tale."

she sighed and nodded. "I'm sorry then." she said softly. "This is all just really big and quick for me to take in."

He nodded, relaxing. "It is a lot to take in," he agreed. "If you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask me."

"I don't know if I'd like the answers to my questions." she said.
