It's a Love Story

"I don't think you would hurt me." she said. "I'm more scared you dieing..." she let out a small chuckle.

"I will not," he told her determinedly. "I will live until I grow old and withered."

She stayed silent for a moment, staring at him. "Promise?"

"I promise," he nodded, squeezing her hands gently. "I will always be here for you, if you so need me."

She nodded and turned slightly, resting her head on his should, still holding his hand. "Thank you." she whispered.

"You are most welcome," he whispered back to her gently.

Roman sighed and closed her eyes tightly. She could feel it. She could feel herself falling for Dante like she fell for Pavo and she was terrified. If something happened to Dante then she wouldn't be able to handle it. Part of her also didn't want to let go of Pavo. It was traumatic how quickly she had fallen for him and then lost him in a blink of an eye. Like everyone, she was blaming herself. If she hadnt been holding onto his hand and he had both on the wheel he might have been able to swerve quicker and he would be alive now.

Roman felt tears in her eyes and she let out a shaky breath, trying not to cry like she wanted to. She had cried to much and she knew that Pavo wouldn't want it. But she missed him so much and Dante was so comforting. She didn't know how to feel.

Dante frowned looking at her. "Roman, what's wrong," he asked, sitting up some and hugging her, though it was more like cradling her against his chest since they were laying down.

As he hugged her closer, Roman couldn't hold back her tears. "I miss Pavo so much... But I feel like I could fall for you and I wouldn't care. How could I just let Pavo go so easily?"

He held her, letting her cry. He figured she'd been holding her feelings in for a while and just needed to let them out. "Pavo will always be in your heart, Rome," he murmured. "You aren't letting him go. And you wouldn't if you did fall for me. My brother only wants everyone to be happy."

"But I'm scared that if I do, you'll die... I don't want you to leave..." She said, holding onto him tighter.

He held her close. "I promise I'll wait to die until I'm old," he told her gently. "Old and grey and crippled. I will not leave you," he looked down at her.

She nodded. "Alright." She said softly.

He gently wiped her tears. "Are you alright," he asked her softly.

She nodded. "I suppose I will be." she said softly.

"I'll make sure of it. Do you want to ride around the vineyards on my horse?"

She shook her head. "It was a really long flight. I'd like to just stay here." she said, looking up at him. "IF that's alright with you."

He nodded. "Of course," he said and laid back down, still holding her hand gently.

She laid next to him, letting her head rest on his shoulder. She liked the peacefulness here.

He relaxed, closing his eyes. He dozed off eventually, his breathing becoming deep and even.

As she listened to Dante breath, Roman eventually drifted herself, comfortable and happy with him next to her.

Dante's mother began to call them inside for dinner but stopped herself, seeing them both sleeping in the hammock. She chuckled gently and let them alone, going to call the other kids to the table for food.

At the dinner table, Jon yawned, leaning over to rest his head on Ren's shoulder. They had grown really close but hadn't said, 'I love you' to each other yet. He knew he did love her, but didn't want to scare her away.

Ren closed her eyes, full and tired from the long flight. She rested her head on Jon's, ready to fall asleep at any moment.

Aiden looked at the two of them and smiled, nudging Rosie to look at them.
