We keep our governement out of thier pulpit by allowing thier religon, freedom of the religon, but they need to keep thier pulpit out of the damn government. They're poisoning democracy. They thing God belongs in everything. Well why isn't God down here governing us?" he said. He felt over zealous about this. " I'm sorry. I'm sure you don't want to hear this."

Jenny was quiet for a few minutes before talking again. "What is so good about alcohol? What good has it brought to the world? What is so wrong with getting rid of it?" She had yet to see someone act intelligent while under the influence of alcohol. She breathed in softly, clutching at her knees. "A couple of months back when my family was visiting Reginald at his family's summer home and he'd had too much to drink he attacked me sexually. I suppose that alcohol has nothing to do with that." she whispered.

He sighed. " When one drinks responsibly it is fine. Its the idiots who don't. " he said. " I guess he just doesn't know how to hold down his drink or is responsible. He can't take care of himself how does he expect to take care of you"

"Why should something that is so dangerous, something that is so unstable when consumed by another human being, be open to the general public?" she asked softly, her heart beating rapidly as she spoke. This was the first time she had ever disagreed with Danny on anything and there had been several times when she could have turned her back on him."I fought back..." she whispered quietly after a few minutes. "I kicked and screamed, but he still touched me. I didn't lie when I said that I was a virgin, but he still did things that I didn't want..."

" what did the greeks drink when they couldn't have water? Wine. They were surronded by the ocean and I'm sure the streams were scarce. Drinks have been around centuries. Its not a dangerous thing if use properly. Just like fire. Its dangerous is it not yet we still use it." he said.

"Fire doesn't alter the way a person thinks or act. Fire can't be used to justify a person's behavior. Anyone can say that it can't be helped because they were drunk." She was looking down at her hands which were clasped together in her lap. Sighing softly she shook her head. "I know you won't agree with me. No one ever does. I'm just a silly little southern belle." Jenny was quiet as she looked up and glanced over at the small window.

" That is not true. I understand what you are saying but what I am saying is that it should be used with moderation" he said gently " I'm not justifying drunk bastards." he said hesitating but he put his arm around her shoulders.

She breathed in softly as he spoke and gasped softly feeling his arm draped over her shoulders. Jenny looked over at him with reluctance and shyness. "It is hardly ever used in moderation." she murmured softly. "Some men just drink and drink until it nearly kills them. Hardly anything that the human body craves is used in moderation." she blushed and dropped her eyes from him. "Take a flapper for example. They smoke, and they drink and they're promiscous. And none of that can be good for the body..." her cheeks reddened slightly.

" Well sex is actually healthy. " he said. " Just not in the manner they are doing it in. It should be one partner." he said. " Not 30 each week."

"Healthy?" she asked softly, her cheeks flushing even more. "How could it be healthy?" She thought back to when Reginald had attacked her and remembered that there was nothing about it that her body had enjoyed. "I can't see how.. It just seems painful. Like something that you just wait for it to end when it's happened..." She didn't have a love life and of course did not have any pleasureful memories surrounding the opposite sex.

" Well....I can't tell you because you won't experiance what I mean..." he sighed.

She breathed in softly and then sighed, unable to look at him. "I know." she whispered after a few minutes. Several minutes of silence passed between them. She didn't know why she had brought this up. Had she expected him to show her what she meant? He wouldn't. He was too much of a gentleman. And she was a child and she was engaged.

He couldn't do that. Danny knew she would look down at him for such advancements.

She moved away from him, using the excuse that it was cold and that she was going to light a fire in the small fire place. Grabbing a few logs of wood she set them up properly in the fire place and then reached for the box of matches and fire poker. After five minutes she had a small and modest fire starting to grow. It kept her mind off of him and what could happen if the both of them lost themselves and forgot their situations.

Danny sighed as he got up to get into his pjs.

He came out of the bedroom buttoning his shirt up. He was looking down and not at her.

Jenny could feel a tension between her and Danny growing that she didn't want to be there. Sighing softly, she shook her head and continued to tend to the fire. Once he left she relaxed and stared at the fire thoughtfully. After a few minutes she heard him walking back into the living room. She blushed deeply see him and looked away from him. Her own pajama shirt was similair to his (because it was his.)

He finished buttoing them and sat down.

A soft sigh passed from her lips once she was finished tending the fire and she walked over to him. The pajama shirt was shorter than the one she had worn the last time that she was here. Shaking her head, she got to her feet and then walked over to the couch and hesitated before deciding to sit in the arm chair adjacent to the couch. "I'll sleep on the couch tonight. You deserve the bed."

"No no its ok. you take the bed" he said

She shook her head. "I cannot lay in your bed." she whispered quietly and then sighed. There was a double meaning to what she said, though she knew that she was more or less saying this to remind herself that she was engaged and could not find peasure with him. "Please. Since I couldn't really take care of your arm I feel like it is the least that I can do."

" I insist." he said . " You take the bed please."

She pouted at him stubbornly. "I am not taking the bed. You'll be lucky if I leave this chair." There was so little that she had control over or could be assertive about. Jenny was putting her foot down right then. She was worried about his comfort and wanted him to stay in his bed that night. She couldn't be in his bed where he had probably taken many women before. He had already told her that she would never experience what he meant when he spoke of sex.

He meant she would never experiance it because she was going to be with a horriable man.

Jenny knew that this was what he had meant by it. With this in mind she didn't want to be in the bed of a man who wouldn't be horrible to her. Sighing softly and shaking her head, she rested back against the arm chair. A small throw blanket was draped over the arm and she took it and covered her body all the way to her toes and then curled up on the chair.

He sighed. She was stubborn. He walked into his bedroom and layed on his bed and close dhis eyes.
