| " Because I am attached to you emotionally and spiritually. Have you ever heard of dying from a broken heart? People loose the will to live because of the grief. " he said gently. | |

| "Can't werewolves fall in love again?" Renee asked softly. In reality she was asking if people could learn to love again, in anybody could move on and learn to love someone else. All of what was happening right then frightened her. He belonged to her, she belonged to him. What did it mean? They were mates? What did that mean? A soft sigh passed her lips. "Is that impossible?" Why was is that werewolves felt so strongly that they could die from the grief of a broken heart? |

| " A werewolf feel a sort of imprint on the person and its said the person can smell an scent that distingues them from anybody else" he said gently. " Werewolves can't fall in love again IF the person denys them. They die." | |

| She couldn't comprihand how a werewolf could die after losing their mate. Renee was starting to pick up on the fact that werewolves loved deeply and thoroughly, but it still didn't make sense to her that they would just die. "How do they know if they've picked their soul mate, though? There's a difference between the first person you've been with intimately and the person you're supposed to be with the rest of your life." |

| " We know because of a feeling we get from the person. Its hard to explain" he said gently. " Feelings are hard to explain" he said softly." But I understand if you don't want me...." he said softly. | |

| Renee looked at him sadly. "I'm scared." she admitted, her voice weak. "I-I've never seen anything like when I saw you and Lena. It was like there was an explosion, and then there were these two wolves. I-I thought I was going to die." Renee thought back to when they had been together earlier that day and when he had promised her that he would never, ever hurt her. |

| A sad sigh passed from her lips. What could she say to that? He couldn't help what he was and by telling him that she was afraid and that she didn't know how to feel it was like she was the bad guy. "I wish I knew how I felt about this. I know that you can't control what you are, but it doesn't change the fact that I'm frightened." Her eyes were sad. He had kept his promise to never hurt her. |

| "I'm sorry for hurting you." she answered in return. Taking in a breath she kissed his cheek and then stepped out of his arm. "I don't think we'll be apart forever. Just a little bit." Renee knew that she needed to grow up and that she needed to work if she wanted to be with Brad. She needed to learn to understand things through his eyes; she could only hope that he would wait for her. |

| "Would you..." Renee murmured softly, "Would you walk me home?" While she was afraid of being with him on an intimate level and to be his mate, but she trusted him enough that he wouldn't let anything hurt her. "Please, Brad." she looked at him softly and sighed. " I understand if you don't want to. I think today has been a hectic day for the both of us." |

| A soft smile graced Renee's lips and she offered him her hand. "Thank you, Brad." she said softly, her hand touching his and wrapping around his protectively. For a minute she feared that she was going to tell him that she loved him but she caught herself on it. It was not the appropriate time. With a soft sigh she began to walk with him to her house. A few rain drops fell from the sky. |

| The earth felt soft underneath her feet as they walked through the woods. They would reach town in fifteen minutes or so and she knew by then it would probably be raining hard. He was probably able to run at the speed of night if he wanted to (Couldn't he? Or was that just a dumb theory?) but he wouldn't because he knew that she was afraid of what he was. |

| The rain was pouring down on them hard by the time they reached her house. Her parents weren't home and she walked over to the porch to pick up the fake rock with the false bottom to take out the spare key- she had left most of her things over at his house. "Why don't you come in for a little bit?" His clothes were clinging to his body and she knew that her own clothes were no better. "I'll make you something warm to drink and get you something dry to wear." |

| Unlocking the door she walked in and sighed softly to herself. The water dripping from her clothes was already leaving puddles and she quickly removed her soaked through converse and hoodie. Leading him to the laundry room she placed the jacket over the wash tub and placed her shoes in as well. "We can let our wet clothes drain out here." she smiled at him. "I'm going to go change and then go get some clothes for you. Make yourself at home ^-^" Smiling at him she then walked off to her bedroom. |

| She decided the best thing to do was dress warmly and comfortably. Renee put on her warmest flannel pajama pants and an underwear tank top. Tying her damp hair back into a ponytail she then went to get some clothes for Brad to wear. Even if she wanted to put their relationship on hold, she was still his mate and still felt an overwhelming need to make sure that he was already. After collecting the clothes she walked into the laundry room. She was barefoot and as she made contact with one of the puddles that his wet clothes had created, she gasped and slipped and fell into him. Instant warmth. |

| "Yeah, I'm fine." she murmured softly. Her cheeks were flushed a bit, though she quickly caught a hold of herself and presented him with the clothes that she had gotten. "Here you go." she said softly, handing him the pajama pants and shirt. "I'll leave so that you can change." She nodded her head and then walked out. Being mates wasn't the same thing as loving someone, she thought to herself. |

| It was the same thing. It was the notion of loving someone forever and only them. If she was thinking this...she was astray from the path and he would die. | |
