"No, I just mean karma is a bitch." Craig snickered as Jake growled. "What did that old man say?" he asked as he grasped her hand.

Charisma hung her mouth in amazement. "Dad... Really? Are you really saying this?"

"Yes, I am. Why?" Craig laughed. What, did she never hear him curse or something? He was certain that he cursed like a sailor at times.

It was the cursing, it was the karma part. "You're being mean. He didn't deserve this... You know what, I'm not talking to you right now." she said, closing her phone.

Craig was about to protest but she had already hung up. "Ugh, now she's pissed. She's definitely like her mother.." he mumbled, sighing and trying to call back. "What happened?" Jake asked.

"He said that Karma's a bitch. That you deserve this." she said and sighed.

Jake scoffed. "Whatever. I'll get through it. I always do." he smiled, winking.

"But he's wrong..." she said, slowly laying down next to him and laying her head on his chest, making sure not to hurt him.

"No, I hurt you...bad." Jake muttered, meaning towards when they were close to breaking up. He hugged her with one arm, cringing a bit as his whole body ached.

She sighed. "Do you want me to move?" she asked, dismissing the whole subject.

Jake shook his head. "No, you're fine. I'm achey all over, but you're making it go away just by being here.." he said, closing his eyes and resting his head against hers.

She smiled and kissed his neck softly. "do you need anything?" She asked, worried still.

Jake chuckled. "I need you." he said, staring at her. "So, you ok, Charisma? I'm fine now." he chuckled again.

"Yeah, I'm okay." she said, kissing his neck.

"Good. Now, go get something to eat for yourself." Jake said, looking down at her sternly. "You look pale."

She shook her head. "no, I'm fine."

Jake sighed, caressing her cheek despite some pain. "You sure?" he asked, smiling.

She nodded. "I'm fine. I just need you to hold me. Without hurting yourself." she added quickly.

Jake sighed. "Not like I can't hurt myself already.." he joked, holding her as best he could. It hurt, but it wasn't that bad. Thank god for morphine. "So, I hope I didn't give you that much of a scare."

"I don't remember ever being so scared." she said honestly.

"Eh, tell me about it...I really thought I was gonna die." Jake muttered, sighing. "You sure you don't want to eat? I don't want you to then faint right on me.." he chuckled, joking.

She smiled slightly. "I'm not. I'm fine, really."

"Ok....I might fall asleep so.." Jake mumbled, slowly closing his eyes and kissing her head before falling asleep.

"I love you." She whispered, falling asleep herself.

Jake slept for a few more hours until a nurse came in with food that was the norm. A cheeseburger with a side of jello and applejuice. Since he only had a removal of the appendix and nothing big, he could eat. "Um, ma'am?" she said softly as she shook her shoulder.
