Finally a home~ Private

"My father's sleeping, it's ok..." Joshua said in her ear, incoherent to Jonathan's good hearing.

She nodded, kissing his cheek.

Unfortunately for them, it was the weekend. The kids would have to see their grandfather suffer but yet, hide it under his smiles and fake laughs. Joshua felt more pain just thinking about it. As he was done with his breakfast, he smiled at the kids. "Wanna go to the park?" he asked, chuckling.

Jonathan looked at Ilane, thinking it might be best for her especially. "Yeah." he smiled.

"Can Grandpa come?" Ilane asked.

"You know, Laney baby, Grandpa needs to sleep." Marley said softly.

"no, I want grandpa to come..."

Joshua sighed, shaking his head. "Not today Ilane, please. He needs to rest, you know what he's going through..." he reminded, rubbing her head and smiling.

"Is grandpa gonna be okay, mommy?" Jonathan asked.

Marley nodded, smiling at her son. "I'm sure he will be. Come on." she said, standing. "Let's get dressed, we'll go to the park."

Jonathan nodded, smiling as he got up off his seat and followed Marley to get dressed. He still needed some help at times, especially with buttons.

Joshua smiled at Ilane. "Shall we get dressed?"

Marley smiled, picking up her son and nuzzling her neck. "Are you doing okay?" she asked, her accent clear.

Ilane shook her head and moved around to her dad and hugged him, hiding her face in his stomach. "Is Grandpa really going to be okay?"

Jonathan sniffed, hugging her tight. "I donno....Is grandpa gonna be ok? He looks bad.."

Joshua hugged Ilane, kissing her head. "Yeah, you just gotta give him time, babe....He's hurting a lot right now, he loved your grandma very much.."

Marley sat on his bed with him in her lap, holding him close. "He'll be okay, i know it. I promise." she said softly.

Ilane looked up at him, her eyes tearful. "Maybe if he comes with us, he'll feel better... Daddy, do I have to go? Can I stay with Grandpa?" She only wanted everyone to be happy again.

Jonathan nodded, sniffing and holding onto Marley. He trusted her judgement.

Joshua sighed, nodding. "I'll have to talk to your mom about it, but..we'll see. I'm sure he'll come with us." he said, smiling and rubbing her head. "Go and change while I go talk to your mother." he said as he stood and went to Jonathan's room.

Marley held him then patted his bottom. "Come on, let's get you dressed." she said.

"Alright..." Iane said , holding onto her dad. She sounded so much like her mother when she talked sometimes.

Jonathan nodded, smiling a bit.

Joshua couldn't get over how much Ilane sounded like Marley. It was uncanny the similarities. Walking into the guest room, he saw his father still awake actually. Shawn had been staring up at the ceiling with longing in his eyes. "Dad..hey..wanna come with us to the park?" he asked, smiling a bit.

Marley smiled and helped him into his clothes. "Get your shoes, I'm going to see what's keeping Dad and Laney."

"Yeah... Grampa, please?" She asked, crawling down from her dad's arms and going to his bed and crawling in with him.

Jonathan nodded, eagerly getting his shoes on.

Joshua looked up as he saw Ilane go into the bed and try to comfort Shawn. Shawn only chuckled, sitting up and looking down at his granddaughter. "Why not? I could use fresh air..' he said, mostly doing it for the children. He got up, getting his shoes on and slowly walking to the door with Ilane by the leg.

Marley was coming downstairs and looked at Ilane. "Laney... You aren't dressed yet..." she said. She didn't realize that she was still down here with her dad and grandpa.

Joshua cleared his throat, nodding to Ilane to go with her mother to get dressed. "Come on pop, let's go and wait in the car hm?" he said as he led his father to the car and asked him to wait there. He then went back inside to help with the kids. Jonathan was having trouble just deciding which shoe went on which foot.

Ilane walked in with her shoes, on the right feet, but not being able to tie a bow. He could. "Jon? Can you tie my shoes?" she asked.

Jon smiled, nodding. He walked over to her, kneeling down and tying her shoes. He knew that best, but still had trouble with which was which. After seeing Ilane's he fixed his own. "Mama we're ready!" he called out. Joshua had then taken Marley aside, sighing. "I think it'd be good if Dad went out with us. What do you think?"

"Come on Jon." ilane smiled, going down stairs with him.

Marley nodded. "Yeah, I think so." she said, hugging him.

Jon followed his sister, excited to go out with his sister and grandpa, of course along with his parents.

Joshua hugged back tightly, smiling. "I'm glad my dad's at least trying.." he said, kissing her cheek softly and then grabbed her hand. "Let's go." he added, going downstairs and seeing his father by the doorway with the kids.

Ilane smiled, holding onto her grandpa's hand. Even for being younger, she knew she had to pretend to smile, to pretend for her grandpa.

Marley looked at her family and smiled even with their loss. She knew they would be together through anything.

Of course Shawn knew his grandkids were faking a bit. Kids usually just want to make whoever's sad happy again. He didn't blame them but himself. "Good thing the park isn't far..right kids?" he asked, smiling.

Joshua smiled as Jonathan nodded, hugging him a bit. "Alright, let's go for that walk to the park kids." he said as he walked out behind the three ahead of them and walked to the park.

Laney took her grandpa's hand and walked with him. "Can you push me on the swing, Grandpa?" she asked.

Marley took Joshua's hand, smiling at him. She loved Laney for how hard she tried.

Shawn nodded, smiling as she sat down and he began to push her. Jonathan only watched, silently.

Joshua sighed, watching the children and his father be together. "The kids...they're trying real hard for my dad aren't they?"
