"You can't drive home in this..." she said gently "I'd get worried...." she said holding him close outside the dorm door.

"I'll be okay," he kissed the top of her head, holding her close.

"Are you sure, luv? Call me as soon as you get home ok? AS SOON AS YOU GET HOME!" she said looking him in the eye. "I mean, I'll share my bed if I have to thats not sacrificing much at all.."

He kissed her. "I'll call you as soon as I get home - I promise," he said, looking into her eyes lovingly. "Tell Hope I'm sorry that I can't stay to tuck her in."

JAmie nodded and kissed him one last time before pulling out her key to unlock the door.

He kissed her back and pulled his coat tighter around him, heading to his car and starting it up, driving back towards his house. Unfortunately, he didn't make it home. He slid on some black ice and collided with three other cars.

Hope wanted to stay up for when chad called so she could say goodnight but when it reached an hour since he left she was starting to get worried and had her roommate put Hope to bed for her. Jamie was pacing nervously back in forth in front of the phone and tv.

The news said there'd been a three-car collision on the highway onto Chad's house. The ambulance had arrived and gotten all the injured, taking them to the emergency room.

They mentioned the names and she about started crying. There was no way she could've gotten to the hospital tonight. She'd have to wait till morning at the least.

"Dammit why didn't I insist he stay here!?" she cried curling up on the couch hugging one of the pillows tightly.

Eventually, Chad got to call whoever he needed to. He dialed Jamie's number, knowing she was worried sick.

"Oh my god Chad are you ok?" she asked picking up the phone immediately.

Chad nodded. "Yeah... Sore with a broken leg, but I'm okay. Don't worry, babe, I'm fine. I can go home in the morning."

"I'll pick you up ok?" she said "God, I'm so glad your mostly okay."

"Alright, sweetheart. You should get to bed - if you don't have a snow day tomorrow. The earliest I can get out is nine tomorrow morning. That will give you time to sleep in a bit. Get some rest, honey," he insisted gently.

"Al-Alright..." she said gently not wanting to hang the phone up, "You sure you're alright?" she asked.

"I'm fine, love," he promised gently. "Now off to bed. Sweet dreams, sweetheart. I'll see you tomorrow."

Jamie nodded and "Love you..." she said gently and hung up. She went into her room and crawled into bed

"I love you, too," he murmured softly into the phone before she hung up and put his own phone down, sighing and laying his head back into the pillows. The pain medicine made him extremely tired - he succumbed to his weariness and fell asleep.

She soon fell asleep listening to her daughter's breathing, tring to just calm herself down.

Chaos slept soundly, knocked out by the pain medicine. The doctors managed to wake him up to ask him his pain level and some allergies and things, and to help him to the bathroom, then he went strait back to sleep afterward. It was hard to keep his eyes open.

She woke up early the next morning to look on the tv screen to see if she had school today, she smiled when she didn't.

Chad groaned, woken up by the nurses again as they checked up on him. This is why he hated hospitals - the beds weren't comfortable at all and the nurses wouldn't let him sleep for more than forty five minutes at a time. He was exhausted.

She put on her boots and her coat and told her roommate to keep an eye on Hope. She slipped a little as she walked outside, the whole pathway to her car was a sheet of ice "great" she thought to herself "I'll wind up in the hospital bed right next to him at this rate."

"I'm fine. Would you leave me the f*** alone," Chad grumbled, closing his eyes again. "Can't get any damn sleep in this place..."

She walked over to her car and got in driving to the hospital.
