"Only female of the pack has to be," she muttered and sighed.

" Not always" he said gently.

"Why wouldn't it be that way," she asked bitterly.

" Nevermind" he shook his head standing up.

She looked at him curiously.

Jake shoved his hands in his jacket and walked out into the yard.

She followed him. "Tell me," she said. "What do you mean?"

" Its nothing. Go and be tough" he said walking away.

She growled and tackled him, pinning him to the ground. "This tough enough?" she was half playing.

Jake just couldn't tell her his feelings. " Yeah tough enough"

She figured he loved Renesmee, so he wouldn't have feelings for any other girl. This is why she wanted to know.

Jake knew he couldn't have Nessie. She didn't see him like that. Just like a loveable uncle. But he started to notice Leah in ways where he could see them being married and having a family. Jake looked up at her. God he wanted to kiss her. Just to let her know he loved her. Jake leaned up slowly and placed his lips on hers.

She blinked and blushed brightly. "You..Kissed me," she said, dumbfounded. She couldn't think of anything else to say, though she didn't disapprove.

Jake bit his lip as if awaiting her scorn. "....I love you Leah"

"And you grimace as you say it. That's original," she chuckled, shaking her head. "Why not Nessie?"

" I was just waiting for your scorn. And Nessie doesn't see me that way. I'm an uncle to her" he explained.

Leah studied his expression and kissed his cheek. "I'm sorry she sees you that way. And it took you long enough," she poked his gut.

" You're a fine one to give some helpful hints" he poked her back.

"I gave you hints. You're just too dense to notice them," she chuckled.

" Oh like what" he pouted playfully

She raised her eyebrow. "Why do you think I was trying to be the best 'beta', always reporting to you every hour, on the hour? Why would I keep pushing myself to stay up later and later so you didn't have to?"

" So you'd look good and I would keep you beta?" he chuckled and bite his lip gently, " But....for the past few months I've noticed that....I was falling in love with you" he said gently. ' Its hard for me to tell you because well....I'm not good with words...you know....I'm more physical..... no no not like that! You see? I do better expressing what I feel through action" he explained

"I know. I've only known you for...what... My whole life? You're such a dork," she chuckled.
