She nodded. "So, it's sort of the same thing. Marriage and mating?" She said softly.

"It means much more than marriage, but yes," he nodded, still not looking at her.

"Have you ever had a mate?" she asked, not knowing anything was wrong.

He stayed silent for a moment. "She was taken from me and returned as a Minion. I had no choice but to kill her," he said coldly.

Fairly flushed and then looked down. "I'm sorry... I didn't mean to pry..."

"You didn't know," he said simply, pushing the memories away.

"I'm still sorry... I-I should go." she said, standing.

"Stay," he told her. "I should not have said it so coldly. Forgive me."

She shook her head still. "no. It's late. I should get to bed. I've got class and work tomorrow."

"Don't stay out after sunset," he warned her in a murmur. "Sleep well."

she shook her head, looking at him again. "I end work at 8 tomorrow. I'm not going to get back here until at least 8:30, 9..." she said.

"Where do you work? I'll pick you up," he told her.

"Jomba juice." She said. It was a place to get fruit smoothies.

"Ah, yes. You've told me that already. I forgot," he admitted. "Sleep well, Breedmate," he said, not meaning for her title to sound more like a caress.

"Sleep well." She replied, walking out.

He nodded, watching her walk out.

Fairly went to their bed room, sighing and laying down in the bed. She felt odd around him, like, she belonged with him. Punching her pillow slightly, she moaned. She wouldn't allow herself to feel like this for a man, if that's what he was, she parley new.

He shook his head. He shouldn't let himself be attracted to this Breedmate. Got only knows what could happen. And with women having the freedom (and attitudes to match) these days... He was in for a boatload of hell.

Baily looked at her watch as she yawned. "Wow.. I didn't realize it was so late..." she mumbled.

He exited the command room and went to his own private quarters, slipping out of his clothes, save for his boxers, and into bed.

"I should be getting to bed." Baily said softly

Damon nodded, standing. "It is pretty late for you, isn't it? I'm sorry I kept you up so late," he apologized, walking out with her towards her room.

"That's alright. I had fun talking with you." she said, letting him lead her to her new room.

He smiled, opening her door for her. "It was fun," he agreed.

"I'll see you tomorrow, right?" she asked, smiling.
