He smiled and kissed her back softly.

She smiled, resting her head on his chest. ''How soon do you think everyone will be healed up?''

"within the next couple days," he said softly, rubbing her back.

Maria sighed gently. ''So there's a possibility of an attack within that time period?''

He nodded. "There is," he said gently, holding her close.

Maria nodded. ''Then I'll attempt to help you in whatever ways possible...''

"Just stay with me," he kissed her forehead softly. "The rest of the pack knows what I'm planning and they're going to help us."

Maria sighed. "Baby, can you tell me what you're planning?''

He chuckled. "You've probably already guessed it, but I'll tell you," he kissed her forehead. "I'm going to turn you," he said gently. "The pack has come to know you and they think you'll be a powerful were. Those who are turned... Well, their strength and attributes are based on who they were as a human. You are stubborn," he smiled. "Strong-willed and have a kind heart. The rest of the pack is hoping you would one day become their alpha female, based upon those traits."

Maria kissed him happily, leaving her hands on his face. "How would one become an alpha?"

"One is usually born and raised by the previous alpha. Sometimes, a male will challenge the alpha and the winner and his mate will be the reining wolf. Other times, the alpha will step down so another can rise. The current alpha, the big black wolf, has offered us the position of alpha of his pack once you are truly a wolf in his eyes."

She blushed, flustered, as she looked down. "It's going to take alot to make him accept me huh?"

He kissed her cheek. "He knows you will be a powerful wolf. He's trusting me with teaching you the ways of our kind. We both have a lot to live up to, but we're lucky to even have the chance," he told her softly.

She nodded, kissing him softly. ''I guess so...'' She swallowed, closing her eyes. Damn, what would she do now? People were depending on her success, and she was horrible under pressure.

He stroked her cheek. "Sweetheart, the pack will go on with another alpha if you don't wish to be their leader," he told her gently. "They will still accept you as one of their own."

Maria sighed. "Its not that I don't want to... I just have this huge fear of letting people down... I can't stand it when someone's disappointed in me...''

"Love," he lifted her chin and kissed her tenderly. "You won't let them down. We all know you will be a powerful wolf. And it's easy stuff, being a wolf. Just don't raise your head above your superior's and don't talk back. Do everything to protect your mate and pack. That's really all it is," he said gently, stroking her hair.

Maria sighed, nodding. Only he could make her this calm. He could make her agree to anything, just by kissing her. Damn it, she was so in love with him it wasn't fair...

He kissed her softly. "I love you," he whispered.

Maria smiled. She'd known him for a week and was already willing to give her life for him. "I love you too baby..."

He hugged her close. "But are you sure you'd be willing to leave your human family," he asked her. "I don't mean to make you choose, love..."

Maria sighed. "Unfortunately, they wouldn't notice my absence... So yes, I could leave them...''

He kissed her softly. "I will never leave you alone," he whispered. "You should know that by now," he winked with a playful grin.

Maria smiled, kissing him deeply. "Don't I know it..."

He kissed her back, smiling lovingly at her.
