" I don't think so either" he laughed.

She smiled happily and pulled out some paper and a pencil, sketching out the current floorplan of the house. "Kay, where do we want to expand?" She blinked, looking up and out the window as she heard a car rushing through the forest. "What on earth... Mom?" she blinked in disbelief as her mom came out of the car, running and pounding on the door.

Ched Scrambled to his feet in alarm.

"Briana, you let me in this house right now," she demanded, pounding on the door.

Bree sighed and got up, hiding the mother magazine before she opened the door to her mother shaking her shoulders, scolding her. "Why haven't you called or come home!?"

"I was busy, ma," she said. "And I needed some quiet time to myself."

"Are you about done? Sammy is going nuts without you," she shook her head and finally noticed Ched. "Oh! I'm sorry, who's this?"

Bree looked at him apologetically. He hadn't wanted them to meet like this, with her angry about her being gone so long. "His name is Ched, ma. He's very special to me," she blushed, having never said that to her mother.

"...hi...I'm Ched....nice to meet you" he said gently and very shyly.

"My baby finally found a boy," she gushed, earning her an eye-roll from her daughter and an amused shake of her head. "Tell me everything," she told both of them, taking a seat down on the couch.

"He was hiking, I let him in for some food and water, and here we are," Briana simplified.

Ched blushed gently.

"That's hardly a story," her mother scolded.

"That's what happened, ma," Briana told her.

"Tell me about yourself, Ched."

"Ma, don't pry," she frowned.

" Well... I suppose you could call me one of those self suffiant people who do the survival stuff. I lived in the woods and well..someone stole my heart." he said gently.

Briana blushed, smiling.

"That's so sweet," her mother said, almost in tears from how happy she was that her daughter had finally found someone to make her happy.

He didn't want to bring up the other sort of news.

"Are you two getting married? Oh, grandchildren," she gushed.

"Mother," Bree blushed brightly, not wanting to bring up the fact that they already were married, under a more primitive law, and expecting.

He didn't know what to tell her or how to tell her.

"What? A mother can dream, can't she?"

"I guess..." she sighed.

Her mother noticed the sketches of the cabin and pulled them closer. "You're expanding the cabin? And building a nursery..." she trailed off, looking at the notes Bri had written to label the rooms, and looked up at her daughter. "Briana... Are you pregnant?" Her expression was unreadable.

Ched bit his lip. He didn't know what to say.

Judging by the way she got no answer, Brianna's mom took it as a yes. "Oh, honey," she hugged her daughter. "Move back to the city with me. There's plenty of room-"

"No, ma. I want to stay here, with Ched. I never really liked all that noise to begin with. It's quiet here. Peaceful. The perfect place to raise a baby."

"What about groceries, or if your baby gets sick," she asked, frowning in disapproval.

" I can get to the city pretty fast. " he said reassuringly.

'Not that we'd need a human doctor to take care of a werewolf baby,' Briana thought to herself. "Mom, let me do what I want for once. Please?"

Her mother stared at her for a while before she nodded. "Alright. But let me help with the baby. You can't keep a grandmother from her grandchild."

"Alright, ma," she chuckled.

Ched knew Bri would be able to handle birthing the baby because if she knew that the time was close she could choose to birth the baby as a wolf. then when the baby was born it could transform into a child anytime it wanted. But he couldn't say anything like that to her mother so if her mother decided to stay during the time Bri was due to give birth he knew things would be more challenging.


What made matters harder was the fact of renvoation for a nursary. They didn't know what gender their baby was going to be. All they knew was they were having a baby.

"I've got to get back to tell everyone," her mother gushed.

"Ma, don't. Please," Briana frowned. "I don't want a lot of attention. Just Ched and me. I like the quiet."

"Alright, sweetheart. I'll bring Sammy the next time I visit. And all his food," she nodded.

"Thanks, ma."

Ched wanted their quiet cabin back and no more questions.

Her mother reluctantly left (finally!) and Briana sighed. "I'm so sorry, Ched," she apologized to him. "She's nosy..."

"Its ok" he shrugged.

She hugged him, nuzzling him gently.

" Well its going to be interesting getting used to your family. I wish I had one to introduce to you but I don't" he said gently/
