| {Chapter 5}
~ Jean's Point of View~
I walked downstairs with Nick when my tears had dried.
Cody was waiting for us in the living room. "Hey, you're awake. You feeling okay," he asked me.
I nodded, "Yeah, I'm fine," I told him.
Well, it was half true, at least.
I still had to figure out what to do.
Go on, marrying Alan and giving Nick up?
Or vise - versa?
Ugh! This is so annoying!
Understand this: I hate being stressed. And confused. They both annoy me to no end.
Especially both at the same time.
And what about the demons?
Who were they? I don't remember them.
Nick, who was standing beside me, led me to the couch and motioned for me to sit down.
I did so, looking around Cody's house. "Nick, were you really in that accident...?" I couldn't help but ask.
He sighed, sitting next to me and putting both arms on the back of the couch. "Yes, I was. For the past few years, I have been going by 'Joe'."
"'Joe'? Of all the names. You picked 'Joe'?" I almost laughed.
He chuckled, himself. "Yes. It's not an uncommon name, actually. And no one suspects me of being the young human boy who died in that accident."
"How did you survive it, though? You drove into a semi!"
"Have you already forgotten, Jean? I am a werewolf."
"You haven't exactly told me what that all entails," I reminded him.
"Oh, my apologies. Well... Where should I start," he said thoughtfully.
Cody broke into our conversation. "Being a werewolf, he has enhanced hearing, smell, and sight, as well as strength and healing abilities," he explained.
"Precisely," Nick said. "Well done, Cody."
"Hey, living with you for the past few years, I think I've learned quite a bit," he grinned proudly. "So, thank you."
I blinked, "Alright, now you guys are starting to sound like you're going out or something," I said.
I have nothing against homosexuals whatsoever.
In fact, most of my friends are 'gay'.
But I've known these two longer than anyone.
I know for a fact that they aren't.
Nick laughed. "Come now, Jean. Let us have a bit of fun," he said, smiling.
I raised my eyebrow. "That didn't sound dirty at all," I said sarcastically, ending with a smirk.
Nick chuckled. "You haven't changed at all," he said and ruffled my hair.
I rolled my eyes. "I came into middle school with the most innocent mind out of all the students. Then I met you," I looked at both of them, "And now look at me."
Nick and Cody laughed. "Friends do tend to rub off on each other," Cody said between laughs.
Nick nodded in agreement. "He's right, you know."
I laughed and nodded. "Yeah, I guess you're right. Too bad, though. I would have hoped that you two would be a bit more mature," I shrugged and smirked.
Nick pulled me to him playfully and gave me a 'noogie'.
"Hey," I said, laughing in protest, "Cut that out!"
"Not a chance," he said, and started to tickle me. | |
