A Werewolf's Heart Part 1.1

Nick nodded slowly and held Ilane close, gently.

Ilane woke up a while later, holding onto Nick's shirt in her fist.

Nick dozed off, holding onto Ilane, his body hunched around her protectively.

She held onto him tightly, not moving. It didn't hurt to much if she didn't more.

Nick woke up about an hour later, yawning. He blinked down at Ilane groggily. He hadn't slept very well in the past couple days.

Ilane was still awake, holding onto him.

"How are you feeling," he asked quietly.

"Like I have pneumonia only without the coughing and the fever." she mumbled.

"You'll get better," he murmured, kissing her forehead gently. "You want me to do anything for you?"

"I'm thirsty." she said, looking up at him.

He nodded and picked up the canteen sitting beside him. He opened it and put it to her mouth gently.

Her hands lifted up to the canteen and she tried to drink it herself but he ended up doing most of it.

When the water was gone, he laid it beside him. "Anything else," he asked, still holding her.

She shook her head. "no. Just, just you."

"I'm right here," he whispered, kissing her forehead. "I always will be."

She nodded. "Thank you my love."

He nodded, holding her close. "I'd do anything for you," he whispered.

"I know you would." She said softly. "Can you tell me something?"

"Of course," he told her. "What do you want to know?"

"Why do you feel as if this is your fault? You kept saying you were sorry. Why?" she asked, looking at him.

"You're in pain... I told you I'd protect you, and I caused you pain," he explained in a low voice.

"But it's the only way to keep me from going through more pain. And I wanted this. I want to be like you. Please don't feel as if this was your fault."

Nick looked at her and nodded, kissing her forehead. "Alright. I'm sorry I worried you," he told her.

She nodded, laying her head on his shoulder again. "Is there anymore food?"

"Yes, there's plenty," he told her, picking some up from beside him and unwrapping it. "Have as much as you'd like."
