Now he was just making himself nervous again. Ugh. He smiled and laughed with his friends at a joke as he finished eating, holding onto Kat's hand.

Kat smiled, squeezing Deryk's hand as she stood and picked up the plates of those who were done, setting them in the sink. She leaned against the counter, watching everyone. She was so happy right now.

Deryk sighed, not being able to wait any longer. He got the box off of the tree and walked to Kat. "I want you to open one of your presents now," he smiled softly at her, handing her the small box. "Please?"

Kat blushed, nodding slowly. "No problem love..." She slowly unwrapped it, tears starting to fill her eyes. "Deryk... Oh god, Deryk!" She lifted the lid of the box, blushing and wrapping her arms around his neck tightly as she kissed him. She couldn't believe it. He'd gotten her a ring. Tears fell down her face, she didn't want anything else. This was it.

He kissed her back. "Kat, I want to ask you something. Think hard about it, okay?" He looked into her eyes, holding her hands in his. "I promise you that I'll always be here to take care of you, to protect you, to make you happy, to make sure you're warm at night, and that you have a smile on your face before and after you go to sleep. I love you more than anything, Kat. Will you marry me," he asked.

Kat smiled, choking out a sob as she nodded furiously. "God, yes... Absolutely. I don't even have to think about it. But I hope you can handle marrying me..." She kissed him, wrapping her arms tighter around his neck.

He kissed her back, holding her close. He smiled and took the ring out of the box and slipped it on her finger. "Merry Christmas," he murmured and kissed her again as their friend broke into applause and cheer.

Kat blushed, kissing him back. "Merry Christmas to you too..."

He smiled and held her happily and took her hand, leading her back to their friends to continue with the party.

Kat smiled, her hand intertwined with his the whole night. She looked as if she'd just won the Olympics or something, she was smiling so much.

Deryk was pretty much the same way, holding her and cuddling her when he could. He was elated that she'd said yes.

Did he expect her to say anything but yes? She had dreamed about the day when they'd get married, and their lives together afterwards. She honestly didn't know if she could live without him, especially now.

After all their friends went home, Deryk pulled Kat close and kissed her lovingly and happily, hardly able to contain himself.

Kat blushed, kissing him back. "I can't believe you did that..."

He pulled back, looking at her curiously. "Did what?"

Kat chuckled, kissing him happily. "You asked me to marry you. I never thought that'd happen..."

"After all we've been through, you didn't think I'd propose to you," he asked and kissed her happily. "You're crazy if you think that."

Kat chuckled, kissing him happily.

He smiled and kissed her, holding her close. "I... I didn't ask your parents," he murmured.

Kat laughed. "You think I care if they approve or not?"

"I wasn't sure," he said, relieved she wasn't upset.

Kat chuckled. "I wouldn't care if they said yes or no. I'd have said yes anyways.."

He smiled and kissed her hard, pulling her close. "I love you."

Kat smiled, kissing him back as she pulled one of her legs up to his side.

He smiled and picked her up, walking her to the bed and lying her down, kissing her hungrily.
