Dustin then parked, going inside and running instead of walking since it was a heavy rain. Once inside, he shivered. "God, now I'm a little cold.." he muttered, rubbing his arms as he sat down with Charisma.

She shook her head. "I don't think so... You've always been warm. That's why I always made you hold me. You're warm."

Dustin blushed lightly, but held Charisma. "Yeah...you're warm too, you know. Smell good, too." he added, smiling and kissing her head.

She smiled, blushing. "Well... I'm Jake's now. You had your chance."

"I know. And I kick myself in the ass everyday for it too." Dustin muttered, cuddling her and then letting go. He ordered for himself coffee and a sandwich. "I'll pay for you too, you've gone through enough today." he chuckled.

Smiling, she got a different sandwich and some hot chocolate. "so... how's my dad? Is he okay?"

"Eh, he's ok. But he's just more worried about you more than anything else. Why?" Dustin asked as he was looking around for his sandwich, especially his coffee.

"I heard him coughing a little while ago. And yesterday I snapped at him. He deserved it... but still. His cough didn't sound very good." she said softly.

"Eh, probably a cold. That's what he told me anyway. What, he couldn't be sick right? He's healthy as a horse." Dustin smiled confidently. Soon their orders came and he ate quickly, glancing at her a few times. "So, you're engaged to Jake?"

She looked at him, her eyes wide. "Who told you that! I haven't even told my dad!" she said, shocked.

Dustin smirked. "Oh, I could see the twinkle in your eye when I mentioned Jake." he chuckled, kissing her forehead.

She smiled. "We're taking it slow... I'm moving in with him and we're waiting till I have a good job and what not before we get married." She said softly.

"That could be a while..." Dustin muttered, whistling. "So, no regrets before marrying him then?"

She shook her head, smiling brightly at him. "None."

Dustin sighed, shaking his head with a smile. "Not even wanting to have one last hurrah?" he grinned. "Why not give me a chance, just one day, like today. It's perfect.." he said, kissing her cheek but dangerously close to her lips.

She shook her head, her face very serious. "You had your chance Dustin. You ran away when I needed you worse. Jake has been there for me though a lot of hard times and will always be there."

Dustin sighed, closing his eyes and looking away. "Yeah, I know. Still, you screw him more than you love him." he mumbled.

Charisma looked at him, shocked. "You have a lot of nerve saying that!" she snapped, getting up, walking out. She stopped, considering saying more to him but shook her head, leaving the ice cream shop

Dustin stood, following after her. He then grabbed her hand and pulled her to him, their lips pressing together. "I love you, please....I'm sorry. I-I was out of line.."

Charisma pulled away again. "Stop... I'm not yours anymore. You love me, fine. I love you but not like I used to. You lost that love. It's Jake's now. If you can't understand that or accept that, then... go away."

"The thing is, I can't. I'd love to walk away, but, I still harbor feelings for you....Just one day..please." Dustin begged, holding her hands and looking at her.

She sighed. "One day of what?"

"Just...to be like us again. A couple.." Dustin muttered, looking down and knowing it was a fat chance.

She sighed, looking away. "Dustin... you had your chance." she said again.

Dustin grunted, sighing. "At least before I move....I'm gonna go out of state again. I got a job in Texas..." he muttered, closing his eyes.
