Halloweentown: A New Era (site-wide, or whoever wants to join!)

Baklara knew the rumors, they were untrue. He hated his father, hated his family, hated it all but his magic and his sister. He hated the fact that everyone knew him and his young innocent sister, he was just about to his house when he heard his sister.
"I can't answer when you don't give me time sister... your kind of loud you know." Bak returned as he walked into his home. A small building that had once been part of a theater his dad had owned.

"OOOh i'm soooo sorry Bak!" she rushed. "Do we really have to...you know...go to high school," she said with detest. Elfie looked for the paper she had written the portal spell on. "What a minute, we don't need that anymore," she said laughing to herself. 'Now what was it? Hmmmm could be anything' she thought standing in the middle of her study with the objects still flying to her bag, a little more clumsy now.

Alicia walked out of the mayor's building, after having him scold her for an hour about not being nosy and prying into other people's business. Her one response the entire time had been 'If you don't leave the door open, you won't have to worry about all of that.' After she said that he seemed to turn a slight purply color and sighed, rubbing his forehead. He sent her off, wondering how such a sweet little girl could turn so rotten. She now sat atop the pumpkin, swinging her feet inside it's huge eyes. She could see everything from here, at least everything in the town. What happened further out, she'd have to look for. She was staring at the old movie theater, wondering if Baklara was ever going to rip down that damn wall he'd put up. Only his sister was behind it, and it irritated the life out of her. She was determined, now more than ever, to get him to talk to her with decency.

"Sister, just please come over. High school for us Vampire are different. It is at the age of maturaty. Since i am full blood and not turned i age slower even then you. Therefore to them i am a senior in highschool where as you are more of a freshman." He explained his rage for the young woman in the mayors office still growing. My father was a monster, i am just a vampire, not the same thing...at least i hope not... he thought to himself.

Elfie listened nodding her head forgetting that Bak could not see what she was doing. She recieted the old spell and the protal opened. "You ok Bak?" she asked stepping throught that portal, the portal that seperated her from her father and brother so many years ago and she was afraid to go back. What if those people haven't changed? What if they still hated her for her father's blood? "Only one way to find out," she mumbled.

Alicia was pacing in front of the library now, having walked over the main square about six times. She had been mumbling to herself about how she was going to become friends with Bak. She had no idea, and figured he wouldn't go for a 'wanna-go-to-this-kick-ass-party-this-friday' kinda thing. He was too avante-garde for that. Not a chance in hell would he be caught dead with all those dead-beat loser conformist high-schoolers. He was much to anti-cliche for any of that... She stopped, stretching and yawning with a small yelp on the end. She'd figure it out. She didn't know how or why, but she would. Her fingers gripped the little book in her pocket, playing with the ribbon-bookmark that was currently wrapped around the little book.

Bak looked up at the portal that formed and then back down at his hands.
"As you could guess sister, they all know and they will all be treating us like outsiders. I went to the mayor for help but he's an old coot anyways. Sister peopl will hate us and fear us just by our last name... i don't know if you want to do it now..." He addmited to her sheepishly. He left out the cromwell as she had made him mad he left her out of his story though he knew his sisters magic was strong enough to peer into his mind he respected her enough to tell all she needed.

"I understand Bak," she said facing him. She hugged him, not neccessarialy expecting a return hug, it just felt go to be with her brother. "Halloweentown hasn't changed at all, well minus the people, they have aged but of course they will," she laughed at the joke that was only apparent to herself. She noticed the giant pumpkin behind Bak. She smiled at all the memories then frowned. "Why is that still lit? Don't they even know?" she whispered, allowing only Bak to hear.

Alicia eventually gave up on her pacing, going back to the town square. She crossed the main road back to the town square and sighed, climbing back up onto the pumpkin. She knew about as much as she wanted about jack-o'-lanterns: the fact that they were lit with fire embers as so to scare off the demons back in pagan Ireland. Which, of course, she had no problem with, except she would have been considered one of those demons and apparently she was supposed to be afraid of a glowing pumpkin? Ha, not likely. She'd been alerted by her own magic that another cromwell was in the area, but she had no idea who. Mom was at home, and Sophie and Dylan were off in the mortal world. Who else was around? Aggie? Not very likely...

"Of course they know, do you think they care sister?" Bak said a little aggitated. Her jokes and humur showed how she felt about the whole situation, a general type of joke. Bak sighed and looked out the window as well.
"Sister, there are things about this town dad had written down to fix and make right but then he became corrupt by dark magic, no one would beleive me if i told them that certain buildings are evil that certain families have a dark past no one wants to think of, no one would care. The reason why, we are the children of Kalabar."

"What are we supposed to do about it?" Elfie asked wondering what Cromwell was here. Marny, Dylan and Sophie should have left by now. "I think we should go to our house. By the way, where is our house?" Elfie slung her bag over her shoulder and started backing to the door looking at Bak.

Alicia blinked, turning to the library... "Her? The little one? Oh heeeeell no. She's. It's just not possible..." Then again, her family's past was warped by dark secrets that no-one really knew. There was enough deception and lies to last four life-times, and that was a long time considering her lineage... "Well then, might as well let the girl figure out who she is on her own. And Bak as well. He probably knows though..."

Baklara sighed and shook his head.
"In the back of the theater is where i stay, fathers home is victem to many eggings and curses from young witches and wizards trying to be cool by attackign the home of the evil Kalabar." Bak said softly to her.
"Here in the theater at least no one enters or can pester me, come on." He said heading to the doors that lead back behind the screen where no one in the town could see him or his sister. He hated how he couldnt' get left alone and when they did talk to him it was about how evil his dad was or how evil he could be.

Alicia walked home, humming the melody of six or so different songs in her head. School was tomorrow; oh joy. She was enjoying her summer greatly, and it was so leisurely to just sit on the lake and skip rocks across. But now she'd be writing thesis papers. Oh good god that would suck. She was more concerned about classes than the ensured firestrorm that would ensue once Bak and his little sister joined the Halloweentown High population... She really just didn't care for drama...

"Why can't people leave well enough alone? What did that old and beautiful house do to them?" Elfie loved that house and wanted it back. She started thinking of ways she could fix it and have people leave it alone as she followed Bak to the theatre. "This is an awesome place to stay though Bak. You have to admit." She mused as the big doors swung open.

As they enetered behind the screen Bak finnaly calmed down. The instraments and spell books around him made him feel very comfortable. That and a small portal he had created himself that lead to nothing. Meaning anything that disappears in the home of the junk collector would be able to be retrieved. Like the cromwell spell book he had on his table.
"You may want to read that some time sister." He said pointing to it.

Elfie gazed around. 'So this is where the great Baklara stays.' Her attention was snapped to an old spell book lying on the table. It was covered with dust and looked centuries old. Even though she had never laid eyes on this particular book, she felt drawn to it, as if it belonged to her "What's this?" she muttered under her breath. Elfie didn't hear Bak saying she should read it. She didn't hear anything. She wiped some of the dust off the cover to reveal old lettering reading "Cromwell".

Alexis felt that same tug of power, but this time much stronger. She whipped her head around when she got to her porch, searching the sky and ground for any hint. She bit her lip, eventually giving up on her search. She knew the little one was blood, but what of Bak?

Bak's hand slammed on the book then took it from his sister.
"Your not ready for those spells. The cromwell's spell book has some magic that is so powerful and dark it has almost destroyed both worlds. Dont touch it and dont think about reading it till after you graduate." Bak then slid the book into his robe pants pocket making it shrink as it moved.
"My little powerful sister, you could read the wrong spell and destroy us all."

"Wow...really? That powerful of a spell?" Elfie thought of all the people who deserved to be blown up. She sighed when Bak slipped it in his pocket. "So I have to wait for...how many years? Please tell me that I won't have to be there for four years. That would be hell." She babbled on as she looked around the room. She walked around moving her hands on the tables and chairs. She lifted her fingers up and showed Bak. "You need a maid brother."

Bak smiled at her then shruged. "I've been busy this last century. Not a lot of time to clean sister, i'm sorry." He says giving her a bow at his waiste. He knew he was the better wizard but he loved his sister dearly and thought of her as the future of all magic.
"Perhaps you can show me how strong you've become by cleaning it with a spell?" Bak asked.

"Yeah I could do that...but last time I did I think I blew up my neighbor's dog..." Elfie racked her brain for that spell and thought of the thing she did wrong last time.
